"Saffron Revolution" is the protest of the saffron-colours robes Buddhist monks who were at the forefront of the demonstrations against military dictatorship in Burma. Burmese monks have taken part in protests in the past, against British colonial rule and against a half-century of rule by military dictatorship. The costs of basic commodities were rising continuously and normal people are distressfully relying on their little earning under military junta. On August 15, 2007 the government increase the price of natural gas by about 500% which led to an increase in food prices. Long term suffering of the economic distress as well as living under the injustice system of the government makes the people took to the streets to protest the current conditions. In response to the protests, the government began arresting and beating demonstrators. On September 5, 2007, juntas troops forcibly broke up a peaceful demonstration in Pakokku and injured several monks. The military refused to apologize the demanding by the deadline of September 17. This sparked the huge number of monks involving in the protests. The biggest antigovernment protests in two decades, thousands of barefoot monks held their alms receiving bowls upside down refusing to receive alms from the military rulers and their families — effectively excommunicating them from the religion that is at the core of Burmese culture. Tens of thousands of Burmese people led by these monks took to the streets of Rangoon demanding for change. The Buddhist monks were beaten arrested, many monks were disrobed, and several monasteries were raided, ransacked, and closed in retribution for leading protest marches. Now again, the Buddhist monks of Burma demand the military junta to apologise the killing and insulting of monks and the religion not later than October 2, 2009 or face the consequences of excommunication starting on October 3, 2009 in Burma and around the world. This is the third time calling for boycotting junta and this could be the "Second waves of saffron revolution".

VISUAL DHARMA 90 (2008) is published to benefit all beings and to plant the seeds of Enlightenment. THE VERSES OF PRAYER TO THE EIGHT NOBLE AUSPICIOUS ONES by MIPHAM RINPOCHE, recited by venerable AYANG RINPOCHE is well known Buddhist Prayer (tib. Phag-pa ta-shi gye-pä tsig-su che-pa shug-so). It is recited by Vajrayana Buddhists around the world. The author, venerable Mipham Rinpoche-Jampal Gyepai Dorje (1846-1912) was one of the great Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhist Masters. From his early years Mipham Jamyang Namgyal Gyamtso Rinpoche had excellent spiritual connections with Buddha Manjushri in the form of Vadisimha. He understood sutras, mantras and sciences and is often portrayed with symbols of the Sword of Manjushri and sacred text Prajnaparamita. His root guru (i.e. Lord of his enlightened family) was Khyentse Wangpo. Mipham Rinpoche wrote XXXII. Volumes of Dharma, including the Cycle of Mind in its natural state (tib. gnyug-sems skor). In his spiritual Testament he wrote : „Nowdays, if one speaks the truth, there is no one to listen. If one speaks falsely everyone holds it to be true. Therefore, I have not disclosed this to anyone before : I am no ordinary person. I am a bodhisattva who has taken birth by the power of his aspiration." (Dudjom Rinpoche: Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism -- History: Close lineages of the Treasures, pg. 878). Mipham Rinpoche had many visions of all surpassing realisation- rainbows, light rays and points and the manifestations of the bodies and realms of the buddhas. At his cremation on 29th day of 4th lunar month (1912) there were many rainbows and other wonderful signs. His wish was to be reborn in the Shambhala pure land in the north. Among Mipham Rinpoche´s disciples were : Lerab Lingpa (previous incarnation of Sogyal Rinpoche and of the late Khenpo Jigme Phuntsog Rinpoche), Dzogchen Tulku V, Adzom Drukpa (previous incarnation of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche) and others. VERSES OF PRAYER TO THE EIGHT NOBLE AUSPICIOUS ONES is Mipham Rinpoche´s pure vision Prayer -- or as he wrote -- it is „great wishfulfilling crystal in the lake of my mind". His Verses are recited every year at the great Nyingma prayer festival in Bodhgaya, India. During autumn 1996 Buddha Dharma in collaboration with Buddhists from Austria and esp. with Lobsang Norbu from Croatia invited ven. Ayang Rinpoche for the Bardo Teachings and Shitro Empowerment in Ljubljana, Slovenia . Verses of Prayer were translated and recited before each Teaching of ven. Ayang Rinpoche who is great Phowa master . Rinpoche is vegetarian and is residing in Kagyu monastery in South India but is also teaching the Dharma in Europe and USA (Amitabha Foundation). All wise people of this planet earth should regularly recite this wonderful Atiyoga/Dzogchen prayer for auspiciousness and wisdom awareness. One can recite it loudly in English or sing it in Tibetan. One can sing it in different ways (slowly, joyfully etc.) doing prostration whereever it is necessary (i.e. „I prostrate and pray that all may be auspicious for myself and others".) Practical instructions are published in next comment of the Verses of Prayer by Mipham Rinpoche.

March 14, 2008 This Urgent Appeal was sent to the Gevernment of Myanmar and to many polititians around the world, including the General secretary of United nations Mr. Ban Ki Moon , to the President of the parliamentary assembly of UN dr. Srdjan Kerim, to European ombudsman for human rights, Council of Europe (dialogue@coe.int) , delegates at the European parlament Mr. Borut Pahor, Mr. Lojze Peterle, Mrs. Ljudmila Novak, Mr. Miha Brejc; to US ambassador in Slovenia, to the president of Slovenia dr. Danilo Türk, to president of the Government of Slovenia Mr. Janez Janša, to the Ministry of foreign affairs of Slovenia which forwarded this Urgent appeal to the delegation of Slovenia at UN, to the ombudsman for human righjts in Slovenia, to Green party of Austria etc. . It was sent to many international organisations which work on protection of human rights, including Amnesty international, Iscomet- International Scientific Conference Minorities for Europe of Tomorrow -- coordinator dr. Silvo Devetak -- NGO with consultation status at the Councel of Europe ,etc.. It was sent to many Buddhist organisations worldwide, including Sakyadhita International (USA), True Buddha School (USA),Vajrayana foundation (USA),Khyentse Foundation (USA), Dudjom Buddhist Association International (Hong Kong), Buddha Educational Foundation (Taiwan), Austrian Buddhist Union, to the XIV. Dalai Lama (India) and to many eminent Buddhist masters as well as individual Buddhists. It was sent to some tv stations, newspapers and Buddhist newspapers , including
The Buddha Dharma magazine (Canada), Snow Lion Publications (New York) and to the Democratc Voice of Burma (Oslo). We expect that United nations will provide more effective plan of solving very serious violation of human rights of Buddhists in Burma. In March 2008 UN has 1-month long conference in Geneva Switzerland. Democratic world must not forget all victims of peaceful demonstrations which took part in September 2007 in Burma. Democratic world should not care about religious repression in Burma only then when mass media report about this. Everyone is advised to copy Bumra-Urgent Appeal and to sent it together with this study-description to the government of your coutry- Ministry for foreign affairs which shuold forward it to the delegation of your coutry at United nations. Ask them to answer you in due time- according to the law.
Burma-Urgent Appeal should also sent to the Government of Myanmar (see comment) by everyone who is concerned about religious repression in Burma. HUMAN RIGHTS & GENDER EQUALITY is 6th Project of OPEN BUDDHIST FORUM INTERNATIONAL . The aim of this Project is to educate Buddhists about their human rights and to help to protect human rights of Buddhists around the world.

The International Community should be made aware of the hopelessly irreconcilable contents of the constitution adopted in 2008. The referendum was ushered into existence under questionable conditions summarily giving the military junta 25% of the parliamentary seats, unbridled authoritarian control and legitimizing the military dictatorship. This is incomprehensible and totally unacceptable.
